Blepharoplasty

What is Blepharoplasty?

The medical procedure - known as eye bag removal - will eliminate or reposition excess skin and fatty tissue around the eyelids. The aging process can trigger a drooping eyelid (ptosis), but other causes include smoking, a high amount of sun exposure, lack of sleep, and allergies.

The desired effect from the procedure would be a healthier and smoother upper-facial appearance, refining a previously fragile area of skin around the eyes. Patients will no longer feel self-conscious about looking fatigued, even when they are not, and can feel confident with youthful and visually stunning skin.

Blepharoplasty – also known as Eye Bag Removal – is an operation to remove the excess fat and skin on the patients' eyelids. It is possible to get a fresh look with this surgery. The sutures remain on the edges of eyelid, leaving no visible scar.

The majority of the potential blepharoplasty patients have a concern of "hollow eyes" or "hollow look" following the surgery. Some of the patients have this hollow look who had a blepharoplasty by a plastic surgeon that removed not only the skin but also the fat. It is crucial not to remove so much tissue as to prevent the eye from closing, and not to take out so much fat which leads to an eyelid that loses its fullness. Another point is the level of eyebrows. Low leveled eyebrows may result in an excess on the upper eyelid. In such cases, firstly, it is required to put the eyebrows into a correct position, before your surgeon performs Blepharoplasty. As long as your surgeon masters all the above cases, Blepharoplasty is a straightforward and effective operation.
