Your surgeon may need to modify the shape of cartilage or nasal bones in some cases. For minor corrections, the surgeon may use cartilage taken from inside your nose. If you have a septum deviation or bigger turbinates, your surgeon will correct these problems too.

At this stage, you must pass all relevant medical history and current prescriptions to your surgeon.
You must not smoke regular or e-cigarettes within the last three weeks prior to surgery. Smoking can have a negative impact on recovery times, and may also pose potential post-surgery risks. Tobacco products are also prohibited.
Your skin quality is an important factor for this type of surgery. If you have thick skin, it would be recommended to arrange a facial skin care treatment at least one week prior to surgery.
Surgery with anaesthesia doesn’t allow you to consume herbal teas or take any type of herbal supplementation within one week leading up to surgery.
You must not take any type of blood thinning medication (i.e. aspirin, ecoprin, coumadin). Please inform your surgeon if you are unsure, and they will advise.
Painkillers – excluding ones that contain paracetamol – are prohibited. Please inform your surgeon if you must take them, and they will advise.
If you are a thick skinned patient, it is essential to have completed the facial treatment by this stage.
We kindly ask you not to trim your nose hair. These hairs will be trimmed by your surgeon.
There is no eating or drinking allowed within eight hours of surgery, so make sure you plan ahead and are refreshed before this time. Drinking water and chewing gum is also not permitted.
A full wash – shower or bath – is required before surgery, either in the morning, or the night before.
We kindly ask you to shave your beard and moustache if you have one.
Contact lenses are not allowed to be worn. Also, we kindly ask you do not put on any type of make up or wear jewelry.
Please bring comfortable fitting clothing with you, and if possible, buttoned-shirts for surgeon’s convenience.
Your Rhinoplasty will be carried out with the utmost care by your surgeon and you can be sure that the same standard of care will continue during regular post operative checks to ensure a smooth recovery.
Soreness and swelling are likely to occur for a few days after surgery, with no bruising expected. However, it is possible in some cases, that minor bruising is possible.
In most cases, the internal silicon supports remain in place for one to five days after surgery. For protection and support, the doctor places a splint on your nose. Both of them are removed latest before your final check.
